Hi folks: Decided to replace the line on my centerboard (M15) Chinook Breeze scuba diving at the reservoir this weekend. What size line is best and how long? Thanks, Pete WinterSky (Zimowsky) San Juan Islander lost inland - an old salty stuck in the sagebrush outdoors writer and photographer Facebook: https://www.facebook.com/pzimowsky Twitter: @zimosoutdoors The Northwest Outdoors Journey: https://outdoorsnorthwest.home.blog/2019/03/13/the-journey-begins/ "We Can Not Control the Wind But We Can Adjust Our Sails"
If you are seeing damage to the existing line replace with 5/16" double braid. The trick is to cut away about 4" of the internal core and use that part to tie off at the CenterBoard, making the 8-knot small enough to fit properly in the CB Trunk. Be aware it is very possible you will not be able to get the board to over extend far enough to access the hole/opening that the pennant passes and the 8-knot sets. Be careful over extending the board as it can damage the forward end of the trunk. :: Dave Scobie :: M6'8" #650 :: Baba 30 #233 DEJA VU :: former owner SV SWALLOW - sv-swallow.com :: former owner M17 #375 SWEET PEA - m17-375.com :: former owner M15 #288 SCRED - m15namedscred.wordpress.com On Thu, Oct 6, 2022, 07:59 Peter Zimowsky via montgomery_boats < montgomery_boats@mailman.xmission.com> wrote:

Wow. This sounds complicated. Maybe I should have it done professionally. Any places in Seattle? I don’t mind driving 500 Sent from my iPhone

Just need the boat lifted so one can remove the rotation pin and drop the board. See discussion within this email listproc's archives, MSOG.org, MSOGphotosite.com and the FB group. :: Dave Scobie :: M6'8" #650 :: Baba 30 #233 DEJA VU :: former owner SV SWALLOW - sv-swallow.com :: former owner M17 #375 SWEET PEA - m17-375.com :: former owner M15 #288 SCRED - m15namedscred.wordpress.com On Thu, Oct 6, 2022, 08:30 Peter Zimowsky via montgomery_boats < montgomery_boats@mailman.xmission.com> wrote:

"We Can Not Control the Wind But We Can Adjust Our Sails"
Hi Dave: Thanks for all the valuable info on the CB line. With all that info, I believe I am not the person to do it. I can’t even change a light bulb, ha! I’ll need to find a boat yard in Seattle that can do it. My son lives there so I have a place to stay. Thanks again, P.S. I know the boat slips onto the trailer if the CB is down. It just goes up in the trunk. However, If the line is loose, will the boat launch with the CB down? Or will it get stuck on the trailer. Or, if launched deep enough, will CB by pass the trailer? I've experienced both, when launching (or, more accurately, moving the boat back off the trailer while trying to get things aligned) the CB getting stuck on the trailer and, only once, having deep enough water that the CB bypassed the trailer. My own stupidity was the only reason the CB was down in all such cases. John Tyner M-15 #412 "Chimpanzee" On 10/6/2022 3:56 PM, Peter Zimowsky via montgomery_boats wrote:
