#164 sails again...or tried too. She hit the water this week for the first time in 26 years. We went but were basically becalmed. So I got practice and advice on setup and teardown. Two questions. I installed the new centerboard. The pin is flush on both sides. How do I ensure that the pin will not just fall out. Should I shorten it some and epoxy it in place? What is the correct angle for the mast? They way it was rigged seemed way to far forward to me. I mounted my side stays on the rear holes and my fwd stay as tight as I could. Kendall.. On the rig just move the aft stays to a lower position on the stay adjuster. (a lower hole to shorten the length) and move the headstay up to a higher hole to lengthen the headstay. You want the mast to RAKE AFT somewhat. On the pin, drift it out 1/3 and coat it with caulking, do it on both sides. Put a piece of scotch tape on each side to let the caulking kick off. Bob

Kendall, The mast should have some rake, i.e. the top toward the stern. I use the top hole on the head stay and third (I think) on the side stays. My original CB pin is visible on the port side, but it goes in from starboard and, I believe, is tapered. It hasn't moved yet. It isn't broke so I'm not fixing it.
