I am a wannabe m-15 owner, and was wondering if anyone would have an opinion whether the m-15 might benefit from bow chocks. I presume you anchor from the cleat on the foredeck, and does the anchor line cause problems with wear on the rails or pulpit? Have only seen the boat in pictures, so maybe I am missing something.
Hi wannabe, I anchor out about 30 nights a year and went many years without them with no noticeable affects, even in some 50 kts storms. I have recently added 2, 4" cleats where the bow chocks would normally go. These were mostly to facilitate raft ups with a main anchor out and a boat on each side. The older standard cleat cannot accommodate a lot of line. The newer center cleats on the Bob Eeg boats have a much higher line capacity. If I am anchored alone I use one of the newly added side cleats and there is nothing there to chaff against.
