Re: M_Boats: Fw: buying a monty from Bob
Thanks John for the 'heads-up." I've long wanted a Monty, but to be honest, Bob's reputation has deterred me.
Be a man Ron. I have one ready. Got the money? didn't think so. PARALAX94@aol.com wrote:

The ONLY problem I had with purchasing my 2000 hull # 604, was the delivery time. That was when Bob was getting started with the 17s, and I ordered the opening bronze port lights, which required a major mod to the original openings. Another mitigating factor was the death of his main lay-up fabricator at the time of the manufacture of my boat. Other than that, Bob delivered what he said he would, and for the promised price, in addition to finding a shipper that was cheaper than anyone I was able to find.. He has also been responsive to other service related items. I also bought a dinghy from him. If I were ever to buy another boat, I would probably get his help in finding one. The purpose of this post is not to dispute your experience, but to say that he does have satisfied customers, and I am one of them. Regarding the ding in the gel coat, you might write Bob and ask him to send you a few ounces of the gel coat from the batch with which your boat was made so the color will match. The hardner (methyl-ethyl-ketone-peroxide, aka MEK) is available almost everywhere. You could then mask off the spot and apply the gel coat. It may take a few layers to get the proper thickness. You can add the next coat as soon as the previous coat sets, but does not have to be cured. When the last coat has set and cured, start wet sanding with a block and 400 grit paper. You can then switch to successively finer grits up to 2000 grit. When you've finished to the 2000 grit level, buff it out with Dupont 606 polishing compound. I hope you can get your problems resolved and are ready to enjoy the boat this spring. Heads up? Just so everyone knows who Ron P. is. He is a potter owner from Utah. He made an appointment to visit my factory last March 18th. We waited, he didn't show up. He never made a courtesy phone call to cancel. So much for being honest. Bob PARALAX94@aol.com wrote:
