Hello, I just signed up to this fine group. The confirmation email encouraged me to say something about myself. I have owned my 2011 M15 for 6 mos or so. I have only sailed it twice! I love the way it sails, but I also love fixing boats up and this is what I have been up to. I enjoy reading what others have done or are doing with their boats. I live in in northern Ca, near Lake Don Pedro. Great sailing here. The number 1 reason I bought the M15 is because it fits in the garage! It stays nice this way:). I have owned many sailboats from a Cyclone 13 to Catalina 25s. I am liking this one:) Years ago I met and sailed with a gentleman, Rich Cotrell I think, that sailed a beautiful M15 named Really. Cutest boat I had ever seen. I asked Rich if I cound sail with him for a while and shoot some pics? He graciously accepted my request. Me in my Catalina 25 and Rich in Really, we laked at least 20 miles around Lake Don Pedro. Good times...... Mark Eichman Oakdale, Ca M15 Toyboat Sent from Xfinity Connect Mobile App
Hi Mark and Sheri, welcome to the group! You'll find plenty of collective knowledge here about all things Montgomery as well as venues, trip reports, and more. Mostly I just "lurk" these days but there's no shortage of lively discussion and help. I too own an M15, and garage mine as well. A huge benefit to an already great boat. I'm up in Roseville and there are a few other Monty owners in the general area. My wife and I find our M15 just right comfortable day outings and the occasional overnight. You should try and hook up with the Northern California Potter Yachters. We have Potters, Montgomerys, Compacs, and other boats in the group. And various day and weekend trips throughout Northern California--mostly Bay and Delta--throughout the year. One such weekend camping trip is not too far from you, at Woodward Reservoir, in June. Anyway, check out this web page for past newsletters and more. The annual meeting and breakfast is hosted at the Oakland Yacht Club and will Sunday January 20th. Try to make it if you can. http://potter-yachters.org/ If you have heard of Cruiser Challenge, in Monterey, it too is organized by the Potter Yachters. Read more here about last years' event: http://www.cruiserchallenge.com/ http://www.cruiserchallenge.com/ Last but certainly not least, you have got to checkout the Havasu Pocket Cruisers Convention; it's the granddaddy of all things Pocket Cruisers (or Trailer Sailers if you prefer). You'll meet many other pocket cruiser sailors from around the country and enjoy winter sailing in spring conditions, with creature comforts at desert resort. http://www.sailhavasu.com Post a message here any time you want to round up some local Monty sailors for a North Central Valley outing.
