Hello All, Thanks for the great ideas. I like the science ideas as well as the rope work. Kaitlyn, my oldest, is blind so teaching her rope work is a bit challenging -- she can come up with some interesting knots... :) We will have a log book for Hannah who will write and draw pictures. For Kaitlyn we will have a tape recorder so that she can do a verbal log and then braille it when we come back. She will also be trying to capture interesting sounds. Towing behind the boat sounds fun but they can't swim well enough yet and the water will be about 55 degrees. I will probably tow them behind in the kayak -- they like that. Connie, it sounds like you sailed in some very interesting areas -- sharks, turtles, dolphins, soaked women in baby doll nightgowns...:) We are hoping to see loons, ducks, beaver, moose, and possibly wolves -- from a distance :) Three weeks and counting until we leave. Yeah John, 55 degrees might be a bit much. Boy did mine sleep good after that, though. Good luck. t

Hi John, Our sailing experiences were in places like the Baltic; the Adriatic; the Med; USA East Coast; plus inland water ways in Europe, and lakes - Europe and in the North East - Moosehead Lake, ME and Lake Champlain, NY when we had down-sized to the M15 and gone trailerable. Each area exposes you to different ship traffic, different navigational problems; and different flora and fauna. Note books with pencils and color crayons were also a hit, as were musical instruments; recorders and harmonicas, though the playing of these might get on your nerves after awhile. Then you need some alternative distraction to something new - and quiet. Connie
