Bill, Congratulations on your new m17. What a find! Bob

First I want to thank the person who posted to the MSOG, the information of the late model M-17 that was in Boat Trader. I didn't save the post, so I don't recall who it was. Thanks for the tip. That M-17 is now proudly mine. I called and found out no one was close to buying her and also learned an add was to break today in the NW sailing rag called Lat 38. I left San Francisco at 6:00 Am and the 400 or so miles to Chiloquin, Oregon seemed to take forever. When I called on Saturday, the original owner, an M-Boat dealer in Southern Oregon in the late 80's, promised me the boat was as new and if rated by him would be a 9.5 on a 10 scale. When I finally got there, I wasn't disappointed. What a beautiful boat. I could go on and on and bore the group completely... Suffice to say, I found the nicest 1992 M-boat in existence. Not a scratch anywhere, the sails are crisp, and include a main with 2 reef points, 80% jib a 110% jib and a Cruiser Challenge Vll (next years) winning 150 Genoa. Plus everything and anything he had that pertained to sailing. Including an almost new Evenrude 6hp, plow anchor, fenders, lines, & lots of new spare parts. All of the cushions have been re-stuffed with high density foam, new cockpit cushions... on and on. One last thing. I drove up with my Honda. I don't even have a vehicle to tow her with. Unfortunately, "Tipperary" has to stay put until I buy a truck, old station wagon or something. I'm officially an M-Boat owner. Thanks so much for the patience of the past. Now, the questions will begin. I'm so jazzed, I can't wait to get her wet.

PS Jerry M... This info is for you. The past owner picked her up in Sacto from you. His name is Jerry Merchant. He had a sailboat lot in Ashland or Medford. He sold a few M-Boats, including a 23. Hope you recall who he is... He loved your craftsmanship and had the very highest regard for your abilities. He passed along a hello and a thanks for such a great product. His love affair is over with #496, and mine has now begun... As you suggested in a past Email to me... I'll wait a few months until winter has set in. I'll be bringing "Tipperary" to Sacto. I'll need advice and a few rigging modifications. I want to be headlining at the Cruiser Challenge next year in Monterey. You'll be proud of this boat - she shows just like the day you made her. She's gorgeous!!!
