I have sailed M-15s with bolt ropes & slugs, (also the very old Cape Cod Catboat with mast hoops, my much loved "The Old Cat," check my link to her in my address below) and MUCH prefer slugs. To stop jamming in the track, I spray the slugs with a good lube most every time I sail. And my very simple solution to keep them from falling out: run a long cotter key at the lowest point you want them down. (I have fed a few stops to Davy Jones, too.) Holes further up allows me to stop the boom and furled sail higher for standing under the boom when cruising along with my built-in electric drive in a calm, or going slowly into a new cove. No, my e-mail address is not salacious, it just refers to my last sailboat, "The Old Cat." Check her out at <http://www.unicorn- systems.com/theoldcat.htm> ...
