Received the mast tabernacle, pin assembly, and small halyrd organizer plate today for my M15. I'll have to have 4 new holes drilled in the organizer plate to match the tabernacle plate. Otherwise, it looks like it will work well. Oh, I'll also have to drill a new hole into the mast for the pin assembly, as Bob advised. Rich Cottrell "Really"
I already have a "organizer plate" compliments of Bill Riker so I merely ordered the pin assembly. I thought I could just enlarge the slot that is in the old mast tabernacle (3 holes through the deck) rather than drilling 4 new through deck holes to match the new tabernacle. Is the new tabernacle made of stronger material or anything that would say this is a bad approach? Thanks Doug Kelch "Seas the Day" --- Richard Cottrell <rc2222@pacbell.net> wrote:

Rich, When you drill the hole in your mast, consider using a bit called a 'uni-bit'. It is available in most industrial supply stores. It does a very good job on aluminum, and one bit can drill a variety of hole sizes as the hole sizes are stair-stepped about every 3/16ths of an inch. It drills a clean hole and you will not even gave to de-burr the hole. They come in two different sizes, with a different range of hole sizes for each. It is extermely effective in drilling holes in thin aluminum (.020 to .062). If you've ever tried drilling into sheet metal with a conventional twist bit, you will really appreciate the unibit. I keep one of each size in my toolbox in my hangar. Hi Rich I drill the 5/16 inch hole for the pin 1.75 inchs up from the base of the mast. (on center, one and three quarter inchs) This allows pivot room and captures enough of the vertical groove. Also its wise to file a radius on the bottom back of the mast so it will also pivot and rotate forward without problems. I use a 1/2 inch radius. A question: Does anyone know what other porti potty works in the M_15 besides the Thetford 135? Fair winds Bob Richard Cottrell wrote:
