MontyPals: Well, Bob's #208 didn't last long on the market. I went down there today, met Bob and his lovely wife, and bought his boat. He clearly loves the boat, and took terrific care of her. He through in a ton of extras he had. Just a super situation for me. so, tomorrow will be a "driveway" sail to get my systems down, and then, as soon as I have the time, my maiden voyage. I'm sure I will be back on this board with questions, though the way Bob has the boat rigged, it should be smooth sailing. Daniel

You bet! That is my usual spot. Are you local? Do you sail there? I launch from Miller Park. Would love any advice about launching there in this much bigger boat. I know most of you must laugh at that, since the M15 is small by most standards, but the boat I usually sail is my Vagabond 14, which is all of 250 pounds! No motor! I bring her in by dropping the main, and coming in on a run by jib alone. Nice controlled way to get to this dock. Daniel On Feb 13, 2011, at 7:02 PM, Brad & Jackie Evans wrote:

Alas, I learned to sail there as a teenager, But, now I live in Redding. But I have people to stay with there and I bought my M-15 in hopes to find locals like you to daysail with on Tomales Bay. My boat was sailed there many times when it was known as Six. I will probably be spending the weekend on the bay in May with a M-15, and a M-17, the new Six, and a few others. We all sail with the Potter Yachters. We are a group of trailer sailers that you need to know about. We have at least one member in Santa Rosa. Almost half the members do not own Potters. A bunch of Montgomerys and Compacts as well. We do sailing days and overnights all over the Bay area, Delta, Montrerey, and an annual trip to the San Juan and Gulf Islands. We have a messabout at Tomales on the calendar for Sept. 24 & 25. All trailer sailors are invited to all our events. Now, I daysail my M-15, but being a big guy, I cruise on my Vagabond 17. We have a website with our calendar at http://potter-yachters.org/ . We launch at Miller Park, and avoid the low tide times, We never use our trailer extensions. Marshall Beach will allow you to beach you boat. Be prepared to reef on Tomales on any day. We carry a small jib, 21 -23 sq. ft. We use 2 to 3.5 hp motors. A bottom finder is a real plus when you get up north of Hog Island around White Gulch. Believe me, The M-15 will stand up to more bay than the sailor will. You should find that the Monty will be an easy transition from your V-14. On 2/13/2011 7:09 PM, Daniel Rich wrote:

I know the Potter Yachters are very active around here. I have been out there when they came out for the overnighter. I met Neil Dorf and his wife there, as well as a few others in Potters. Let me know when you are around. My schedule is very busy, so my sailing time may be limited, but if I can get out there, I will! Daniel On Feb 13, 2011, at 8:14 PM, Brad & Jackie Evans wrote:

Sorry, my M-15 is number 385, not somebody's 381. When I last serviced my 2004 Pacific trailer, I found that the plastic bushings at the ends of the leaf springs were worn out. Jack up the trailer so there is no weight on the wheels and shake up and down hard. They were gone! The rest of the story is that Dan Phy had towed this trailer coast to coast, and many hundreds of miles from Fort Bragg to everywhere else. But the point is that these bushings were not serviceable. My new ones are sintered brass with zerk fittings. On 2/13/2011 7:02 PM, Brad & Jackie Evans wrote:

Thanks! Interestingly, there are pictures of this boat on the MSOG photo site. For some reason the boat is labeled "Bijou" despite the fact that Bob tells me there is no name, and there is no name on the boat itself. Haven't decided a name myself...
