Hello M-Boaters,
I attended the Chicago Strictly Sail event last weekend and came away with a few tidbits. One of which being a small 6 LED festoon style lamp to experiment with. I'm always looking for ways to reduce battery current draw aboard and recent advancements in LED brightness certainly lends itself well to us boaters. Digging in the junk parts bin, I located a cigarette lighter plug from an old cell phone, and a fuse holder. I wired and mounted the LED package to the lighter plug and added a switch. The six LED package is amazingly bright and draws 42ma which translates to .53 watts. I tried attaching a few pics, but this message got kicked back due to
size restrictions.
A new boat that caught my eye at the show is the Harbor 25. Nicely thought out with the large cockpit and inboard saildrive. Also attended a seminar on the North Channel, lovely slide show and area information.
Later, stay warm all!
