Interesting some of the similarities like the line of demarcation on the keel where it always stays in the slot, and the fact that you also had a seem to fill at the keel trunk/hull joint. Thanks Sean, I also found it interesting that the front of the centerboard slot had received some obvious damage and looked to be in rough shape. Similar to what you had found. I hope I sealed the joint before any water got in the cavity. I have been tempted to drill some exploratory holes in the ballast area but have been fighting the urge!
