What success have my fellow M17 owners had with rowing or sculling an M17? It seems that this shouldn't be too difficult with a boat of this size. John, I don't know if the mailing list archives are accessible to you, but I received some great responses to this question awhile back: I wish I had saved those responses, because I haven't been able to open the archives in ages and don't know whether anyone else can, either. I'm seriously considering oarlock mounts on the coaming of my M17. --Craig ----- Original Message ----- From: "John Crews" <johncrews@hotmail.com> To: <montgomery_boats@mailman.xmission.com> Sent: Monday, January 27, 2003 7:48 PM Subject: rowing or sculling M17 What success have my fellow M17 owners had with rowing or sculling an M17? Much of the information on sculling was distilled onto a web page on the MSOG site at http://msog.org/how-to/oars.cfm In addition, the archives on the MSOG contain over 10,000 messages from Jan 1998 to July 2002 and can be searched. For instance, entering the word "scull" as the first search term will yield 54 messages. These archives have been available for a year or more and, from what I've seen, cover just about everything about Montgomerys you might want. Thank you so much, Doug. I have no idea what I was doing wrong (I'm pretty inept), but your archive link took me to what I haven't managed to access in months! I'm sure I was missing something obvious. I'm going to spend the evening searching the archives. Thanks again! --Craig ----- Original Message ----- From: "Doug King" <msog@msog.org> To: <montgomery_boats@mailman.xmission.com> Sent: Monday, January 27, 2003 11:18 PM Subject: rowing or sculling M17 Much of the information on sculling was distilled onto a web page on the MSOG site at http://msog.org/how-to/oars.cfm In addition, the archives on the MSOG contain over 10,000 messages from Jan 1998 to July 2002 and can be searched. Your welcome, Craig. Recent messages are currently NOT available at the address listed at the top of all list messages under "List-Archive:". Just to explain what happened to folks who may not be aware, the old listserv company went out of business a year or two ago. We were in danger of losing all of that invaluable information, so I downloaded all available files and saved them, then wrote a conversion program and search engine to store and search them. I've added what I could get from the new listserv archive files to it, which so far are only available through July of last year. It is our very own private little archives, not dependent on any third party. I'm trying to get an update of the most recent list files (since last July), but may not be successful for a while. I'll check with Keith again and see what the situation is. Meanwhile, if you have trouble using the archive search program on the MSOG, drop me a line with what you want to find and I'll be happy to perform the search and send you the link or add it to the pre-set searches at the bottom of the search page. I built a sculling oar, which operates off a single oarlock off the stern. There are pics on the MSOG. It works! Howard M17, #278 On 1/27/03 6:48 PM, "John Crews" <johncrews@hotmail.com> wrote:
