"Gross tonnage" of Montgomery 17?
I amfilling a US Coast Guard Form that has abox for the "gross tonnage" of my Montgomery. I woudl greatly appreciate if any one know what the measure gross tonnage of a M-17 is. Thanks! Carlos
Carlos: The M17 weighs 1600 pounds without your gear according to the web site, which is: http://www.montgomeryboats.com/mont17.php So with gear and crew--well you can estimate it. --Gary Hyde Pullman, WA gmhyde1@mac.com M17 sailboat #637 'Hydeaway 2' We can't change the wind, but we can trim our sails. In 1999 I purchased a 1983 M17 in Canada where she was a "registered vessel" (equivalent to a "documented vessel" in the U.S.). Her official certificate of registry listed a tonnage under deck of 2.02 and a trunk tonnage (whatever that might be) of 0.42 for a total gross tonnage of 2.44. I hope this helps.
