main sail cover and boat lift modifications for M 15
Hello Group, I have two requests for advice and information of my fellow Montgomery Owners; Main Sail Cover I inquired to an ad on the trailer-sailor website about the production of a main sail cover for my 2001 M-15 understanding they had many makes and models' measurements on record, and I might order one on spec. The kind gent informed me no such records are on file for an M 15, although he was certain such a cover had been produced previously. It will be a few weeks (months?) until I get my boat out of storage and rigged and be able to arrive at the correct measurements, and I was hoping to get a jump on ordering a cover before our short Midwest season. Any members had a good experience ordering a main sail cover, and possibly kept the measurements too? Any recommendations? What about prices paid for a Sunbrella/similar brand fabric mainsail cover? Martha, I've had my M-15 on a lift off and on in the past. Though the lift normally holds a 21' Caravelle walkaround, I've had no problems except that caused by the rocker in the hull; too much weight aft and the bow rolls up. By "upright" I assume you mean on edge? I store my m15 on a lift in Western New York. It was a used lift for a seadoo jet boat, and has just adjustable "v" supports at the front and back cross bar supports, rather than front to back boards. Right or wrong, it has worked well for me for two years. I am travelling, but can send you a picture in a couple days.
