Hi All... I'm curious. Does anyone sail with a bimini for sun protection? Or is there not enough clearance for the boom, room in the cokpit, etc. Hope to buy an M17 next weekend, if all goes well! John Edwards' M-17, Miss T, is equipped with a Bimini top. John will be on the road for a couple of weeks more. He's in the Keys this week, will be at B.E.E.R 2005 next week, then on to CBC2005. ----- Original Message ----- From: "Brian Gilbert" <hammerguy@mindspring.com> To: <montgomery_boats@mailman.xmission.com> Sent: Sunday, May 15, 2005 10:43 AM Subject: M_Boats: Does anyone sail with a bimini top?

Brian, My M15 came to me with a nice Bimini. I have not used it, but have set it up in the driveway to see how it works. Apparently, the center mainsheet block on the boom has to be moved forward a foot or so when the Bimini is up to gain clearance. Don't know how or if that would affect performance...probably not much in light winds. George, M15 #385 Santa Rosa, Ca On 5/15/05 7:43 AM, "Brian Gilbert" <hammerguy@mindspring.com> wrote:

I have a small bimini on my M15. I moved the main sheet all the way back on the boom to clear the bimini. Works ok but hard to see the sail with the bimini up. I sail with a bimini on my M15; it helps a lot on a hot summer day. If I had a 17, I'd put one on it too. --Gary Hyde N24 'Sailabration' M15 #235 'Vanilla' On May 15, 2005, at 7:43 AM, Brian Gilbert wrote:
