Tom & Dana will take one each, plus a couple for the Brother and Sister in law that have Potter 19! Woodworths M-17 #330 "Wild Hare"
Did I miss something?? I saw one request that someone create a Tee for the M boats, and now it seems that there are orders pouring in! Wouldn't it make more sense for someone to take the initiative, say here's a design, does it meet the general approval for the group, go get quotes for having them printed, find a place to warehouse them, find a clearing house for the fulfillment, and then ask for orders. I, also would like a couple, but I'm not sure that it's more than a pipe dream at present. Just my $.02. I think that Steve's Wife might be the best for helping us with her computer Graphics & design skills, However, if someone has photos or sketchy line drawings (including Bob or Jerry), where I might help make them better with pen & Ink, for the line drawings, I'd be glad to find the time to help 'polish' a line drawing (or two). Craig, The link worked, Thanks. It looks feasible, except here too I'll need to know the exact length of the mast (21 feet?) so I get the proportions right. I don't see that measurement on the M17 pages, yet. I'll also look at photos of the M17 to make sure the sails and rigging are drawn correctly (no gaff rigs, right?). It'll just take a little longer than the other photo with everything shown already. I'm going to check on my light table again to see if I can speed up the process (I'm allowed to be a little lazy). After looking more at the M15, it 'looks like' the mast is about 19 feet long. Can anyone on the list confirm that? (Bob Eeg, or Jerry can jump in here if they have a moment). As for your other email, I can scan in the drawing after I've puttered a while. fyi- While I was going to Art School, we were 'required' to do a drawing a day and this sounds like a good motivating reason to get back to practicing, even if the drawings don't go on a shirt. Bob, I have one 'sanity check' question that I need your feedback on. Historically I like to do a large line drawing, in this case I'm thinking on an 11x17 sheet (Size B paper). Then if the drawing is reduced (sometimes clients shrink it down to fit the cap on top of a pen), the lines are crisper. I usually 'check the design' & reduce the drawing to make sure it still shows all lines when reduced. It's easier to reduce and get cleaner resolution in a smaller size than to draw smaller and when enlarged, minute flaws can show up. So what size are you thinking on the shirts? If it would be reduced to a size that fits on a pocket then I'm ok. If it would be a large print on the back of a shirt (8x10?, 11x14?), the original should larger than I was thinking. I just need to gear my mind to what you're thinking-no problem. As example, I scaled the small mascot decals off the youngest boy's football helmet and made them huge to be put on the back of a 5T stakebed truck for a Homecoming Celebration (he still has those color drawings). So the initial size should be something that 'works' well when reproduced for MSOG. If I need to go even larger than a drawing on a 11x17 sheet, I should know now. I have larger paper here, just need to know what your intention & approach is. And what artwork did you use to get quotes for?? Just line drawings or .......... Gordon The mast for the 15 is 19' 6 inches. Appreciate your work on this.
Give me a call on Friday if you can (949) 489-8227
I've got some quotes coming..
Thanks Bob

Talk to you later, Gordon

Gordon,
Would you be able to take the outline at this link (just left-click on it
once to go to the pic):
http://www.msog.org/models/m17/Ogpg3.m17.cfm
And turn it into something resembling an M17 lines drawing?
Thanks,

I think that Steve's Wife might be the best for helping us with her
computer
Graphics & design skills,
However, if someone has photos or sketchy line drawings (including Bob or Jerry), where I might help make them better with pen & Ink, for the line drawings, I'd be glad to find the time to help 'polish' a line drawing (or two). I might even be able to 'draw in' (or copy paste) the various line drawings (for all the sizes) onto one sheet of paper. I have various pads
of
drawing paper and at least a few 'scribble' tools here to work with
already.
It may not be right away (we're doing a house remodel), but I do enjoy drawing. fyi,

How about a series of line drawings starting with the dink and up through the M23, like in a parade. I got the following M-15 from the MSOG website.

Gordon, I have a message that says that the M17 mast is 22' long with the mast-head light, so, what, probably 21' like you guessed, or 21'6"? Bill I guess I don't know how to use the archives well enough. I can't see or get to the attachment link you sent to see the line drawing you're talking about. Gordon, The line drawing is on the MSOG website under Meet the M-Boats, in the M-15 brochure on the last page: http://www.msog.org/models/m15/Ogpg4.m15.cfm There is not one for the for the Dink, M-17, or the M-23, but one of us probably has or can find a sketch of each boat if we want to use line drawings on our new t-shirt. If you have trouble finding it, write to me at (wmcsyl1@cox.net) home and I will send you a copy. Bill M-17 #279 Endelig
Thanks Bill, That link worked like a charm and I've saved that sketch to work with. That looks like fun. I had been able to figure out how to see the threads but not all the other stuff, that link will help, Thx. Since I don't have an M15, I do need to verify one thing on the M15 so I make sure I keep the proportions right, as I enlarge the sketch. On a similar 15 footer the mast is 22ft. How tall is the Monty 15 mast?? I guess it would be best to hear from who ever is 'deciding' what format of designs we're/they're doing. I like the idea of the string of all the models (across a shirt?). But I can spiff whatever the group needs/wants me to individually, then scale them (so they're appropriately sized next to each other) if they want to be in a line like someone suggested. Just a little interpolation, right? If I then send them (email?) to Steve's Wife or Bob, for finalizing touches, to become 'Photo ready' for the shirt shops, I hope that would help. Maybe Bob or the MSOG group can let us know what 'the program' is and what consensus is............ I'm just willing to be a 'scribbler' to help. As I sit and type, I am watching tonight's episode of the Arts & Entertainment network's series "City Confidential" . . . It focuses on the creator(s) of the cigarette boat . . . I'm learning who to curse . . .
