Want to find a used Montgomery 15
Hi, I have been sailing for about fifty years and currently own a 1999 MacGregor 26X . I am selling it in order to buy a used Montgomery 15. I can't seem to find many (any) for sale. Where do I look? Ken

have you tried the Montgomery owners web site? Lots of cool stuff and boats for sale, but I think one will be hard to find, depending on where you are looking and how far you are willing to travel. Ken, By the way, Rick is right that it may behoove you to travel for the right M-15. There *are* a few for sale on the site though. I do know that Tom Parrent's in Chicago has been sold. Also, if people know a bit more about things such as where you are (and how far you'd travel), price range, whether or not you'll take a fixer-upper - that sort of thing - it might help. None in my area that I see right now (upper midwest), but if there were, I'd be happy to check it out for you (or other prospective buyers). As a boat shopper, there've been so many times I would have been eternally grateful if someone had just taken a quick peek for me in advance. Hi, Little Breeze, a M-15 (#117) was sailed from Huntington Beach, CA to Hawaii by Michael Scott Mann in 5 weeks. Mann went on to serve as an officer on a tanker in Pacific service. The second owner was a college instructor in Honolulu who still owned the boat in the spring of 2000. My wife, Gemma, and I had a nice chat with him. He was surprised to meet a fellow M-15 owner and that we knew the story of his boat. The boat appeared to be in fine condition after years of exposure to tropical heat and sun. Larry Watson "Craig F. The owner of M-15 #117, the one offered for sale, said that he had not seen or had word of anyone in the islands with another Montgomery 15 or 17. He did say that he thought that the 15 was up to the task of regular day sailing in Hawaii but that the cost of freight on smaller boats often discouraged sales in the islands. Larry "Craig F.
