We were camped down by Missoula for a few days this past August. One day we made a run up towards kallispell and around Flathead. Stopped to eyeball a boat for sale at Dayton and were quite impressed by the marina. Would love to spend time there, but did not see anywhere to provision. We spent most of our holiday near Sandpoint ID so I can't be much more help. I will say both Flathead and Lake Pend Oreille need exploring via Monty.
