RE: M_Boats: Boom Bale, Genoa Cover
What type and thickness of metal did you use for the bale?
I bought one ready-made. West Marine has a selection, some shown at http://www.westmarine.com/webapp/wcs/stores/servlet/ProductDisplay?storeId=1 0001&langId=-1&catalogId=10001&productId=5638 Well, drat! I see how the issue of the leading edge stripe makes a sock desirable. It's been a while since I lived in England, and things have probably changed, but suspect that odd-colored sails would be another instance of that "Marks & Spencer look" that used to make us easy to pick out in any crowd by that certain lack of style. I just looked around on the Sailrite site and didn't see anything that would do what you want (but you had probably already checked there). I really like that, Giles, your point about identifying with a "lack of style". I'll have to Google "Marks & Spencer": Classic sailmakers, or boat builders? It seems as if the Egyptian-cotton jib/tanbark main is common to barges (?) . . . Thanks for looking at Sailrite for colored UV-Dacron . . . I'm embarrassed to admit, I just took my sailmaker's word for it. --Craig ----- Original Message ----- From: "Morris, Giles" <giles.morris@unisys.com> To: <montgomery_boats@mailman.xmission.com> Sent: Wednesday, February 12, 2003 11:44 AM Subject: Boom Bale, Genoa Cover
