I thought CNG was THE FUEL OF THE FUTURE. What happened?
Hi Steve, I think you must have been reading something that was printed in CA. CNG powers lots of city, county & state vehicles in the NorCal area around San Francisco. Small modifications to make an the gasoline internal combustion engine run on CNG. I have a friend with two Transmission test Dyno's (stationary) that are plugged right into the Pacific Gas and Electric CNG fuel lines. There was once talk about vehicle filling stations.. to sell CNG to cars. It's all going away in favor of the Hybrid vehicles. In this area we are seeing more and more government vehicles that are Hybrid. And will likely see more as the technology gets better. After all... Doesn't government buy the best that our tax money can afford? Just as a side note... Fuel Cell vehicles (for now) are the technology of the future for transportation and portable electronics. The infrastructure (gas stations) will need do little to convert to a liquid fuel that can be used in vehicles (no sulphur, no lead, etc. etc.) to create electricity. The only thing holding the industry back is cost (to expensive). It's said that when (not if) gasoline gets to $5.00 a gallon, fuel cell vehicles will be more economical... Bill M-17 #496 "Tipperary"
