Catalina Island Video
Due to some new software I was able to load a video up to youtube that I previously was not able to. It is from our '08 trip to Catalina with the Socal Potters. Part 1 is uploaded and ready to be viewed and part 2 is uploading as I type this. I had this video up on "tinypics" but the quality was poor and no sound. All the video was taken with a pocket still camera in the video mode. When you consider that, it came out pretty good. There are some great dolphin (yes, I know now that they are not porpoises!) shots as we approach the island. Unfortunately, there was no sailing done on the trip. The only place there was a breeze was right at the island itself...literally. Twice while sitting moored to the stringline we cast off and hoisted sail, excited that the wind had picked up, but as soon as we got 300-400 yards away from the isthmus the wind would just quite. Nevertheless, it was a really fun trip. My buddy Gary accompanied me and then 'Jo came over on the Catalina Express (for which she took a lot of ribbing) and joined us. The Socal Potters make this trip each June. Catalina is a real jewel. Two Harbors will make you feel like you've landed on a tropical isle...Gilligan's Island style. I can't wait to go back.
