Re: M_Boats: Advice sought - wire to rope halyard
Hi all, I have one of the classic 1975 M-17's for sale, hull #056. It has been very well cared for during the 4years I have had her. Please email me for all the upgrades, details and pictures. Boat is in Chesapeake Beach MD. Have to make room for M-23 hull number 079. Thanks Robbin
Bought a 23? Congratulations! That, of course, is the only acceptable reason for selling a M17. ;-) Did you buy the one that was posted here recently? Larry On Sun, Jul 11, 2010 at 3:04 PM, robbin roddewig < robbin.roddewig@verizon.net> wrote:

I was working on my new '78 M-23 and am pretty sure I found the stop pin for the center board, but I am having issues locating the pivot pin. I have been stripping the old bottom paint but I do not see an obvious dent, circle you name it for the pivot pin. This was easy on my M-17 since it has a pivot bolt and nut recessed into the keel. So do you sailors have a suggestion or experience locating the pivot pin? I want to drop (not literally) to board so I can take it to be blasted. Thanks is advance. Robbin
Try tapping gently with a hammer, you should get a different sound when you are on the pin. Hey Robbin, If you haven't found it already...just keep removing that bottom paint. You'll find it. It should be flush with the original gelcoat but not covered by it. At least that's the way mine was. If you need me to take some general measurements of where to look let me know. I'm off this week and would be glad to do it for you. Sean M23 "Dauntless" www.havasumontgomerys.piczo.com www.youtube.com/user/nebwest2
Thanks for the offer Sean, I found it last night. Small victory but I was thrilled. I tapped aboot with a hammer but as it would be the pin is/was right behind one of the uprights for the keel guide so it was not easy to use this method. I had been stripping but could see nothing different, mostly I was looking too far back, but there was a small crack in the gel coat in about the right spot that upon drilling turned out to be the pivot pin. Nothing like taking a drill to your boat, but it worked out. One step closer.
