Re: M_Boats: Opening up the deck of an M-23 like a can of sardines
Thomas, My hat off to you. Repair of the M17 foredeck from below is not for the faint of heart. Congratulations for taking the bull by the horns. You rock. PS, I think all the cool M17's have a yellow hull, just ask Larry Yake. biased Bones ____________________________________________________________ The #1 Worst Carb Ever? Bones, I had planned to open up the headliner is a controlled and orderly fashion. I traced the outline of a scrap of plywood about 4 inches by 7 inches leaving about an inch and a half between each tracing to form a grid of material remaining to aid in supporting the new materials I would have to reinstall. But... once I started removing the material I found that here and there the balsa core was still very securely bonded to both the deck and the liner so the carefully cut headliner tore apart during removal. The end result was two one foot by three foot areas, one down each side of the liner next to the hull. Found that the balsa extended beyond the cabin liner about a half inch all around the sheer so I have a shelf there to deal with. I plan to make some peanut butter and fill that in first. So much for the original plans. They did get me into the needed repair though. [?] I agree, of course, yellow makes a snappy looking hull!
