HI Tod, Looked at your topping lift pics, couldn't you use an extended "D" style shackle instead of the flat tang for the block? It would have more surface area. I also noticed the spacers on the clevis pin. Did you add a small cleat at the base of the mast for boom height adjustment? I'll have to see how that would work, Bones. Thanks for the idea. Those spacers are stainless washers. With a shackle I might be able to eliminate them, especially if I could mount it like so: --O-O-- | | \_/ Busca has two large halyard cleats on the mast, an eyestrap or two, and two small cleats. The stbd large cleat holds the main halyard but the jib halyard runs aft to a winch on the cabintop so the port large cleat is free for the topping lift. The bitter end of the topping lift ties off on an eyestrap. Not quite how I think I'd do it if I were starting with a blank slate, but.... Anyone else have an arrangement they really like?
