Update - Great News - No planned adverse water level conditions on the horizon at this time - The 2014 WICR / Potter Invitational Regatta is ON for January 17-19, 2014 ! (always was - we got little boats) According to long range weather forecasts the Western US should have a 'wet and snowy winter' - no planned work at the local infrastructure that would cause adverse affects to the water levels (no guarantee here as Nature Rules) We have our first Potter Yachters coming to the event - go to _www.wrinkleboat.webs.com_ (http://www.wrinkleboat.webs.com/) to see who that might be and view the newly revised and brighter site! This year is looking like the largest and best event since the 'bearded guy' said "let's do this!" - Good things on tap for 2014 and the WICR / Potter Invitational! If you are planning on coming - please mail me and I will put your name on the 'Who's Coming' List if you desire. For those that have participated in the past and may not be coming - Is there something we can do to make the event more appealing? Your opinions are solicited - the motto for the event is 'No Stress - Only Fun' I will post a link to the event's Leukemia Cup site when it is up - the 'warm fuzzy' behind this 'pure unadulterated fun' is to support LLS and the work they do for cancer research - Please support the Leukemia Cup OR your favorite organization ! Thank You from the staff. See you at Lake Pleasant JANUARY 17-19TH 2014 Take Care, Have Fun, Come Sailing ! GO 2013 Overall winners in photo below - Know who they iz?

Looks like I'll soon be purchasing a Montgomery 15! I made a deal with the previously discussed M15 in Salem Oregon, which is going to be a huge project. At a minimum I'll be needing new rigging, centerboard, and sails. I also plan on new interior cushions, and an electric trolling motor. I'm looking forward to sailing with you guys, especially those in the Delta and San Francisco bay area as I'll be living in Davis in a few months. Still, I'll probably need a year of restoration work before you'll see me at any events! Tyler 1981 M15 "Defiant"

Tyler, when I got my M-15 (2006) the first thing I did was to replace the standing rigging. I went to Morrison Marine and they sent it to an outfit in Alameda in the Bay Area. Then I pulled the teak and coat everything with Epiphanes varnish. Five coats on everything. The hatchway plywook was in bad shape so I flipped the boards inside out, cut some teak to glue on the bottom section, recut the drip edge to make them fit correctly and again, coated it all with five coats of Epiphanes. Don't forget to check this forum on drilling through the balsa core deck when adding new blocks or other hardware. They recommend to drill oversized, fill with epoxy, when cured drill final then use the flexible putty (can't remember the correct term right now) and do not use anything else. Everything you can think of has been discussed on the M-15 forum.....and they all have better memories than I do......Have fun with the restoration and don't use any cheap materials. It's not worth it in the long run. By the way, my M-15 stays outdoors but it is covered fully with a tarp from CostCo. You get 2 for 23 dollars. I change mine every several month....cheaper than recoating the teak. Fair Winds.....Larry with "Old 189" Ps....I spent 1000 dollars to rehab the trailer. New wheels and tires plus spare, and professional help in getting the tongue extension unseized. Then primer and finish coat. Use a good lock on your spare tire! Don't ask how I know...... -----Original Message----- From: montgomery_boats-bounces@mailman.xmission.com [mailto:montgomery_boats-bounces@mailman.xmission.com] On Behalf Of Becky Belding Sent: Thursday, October 10, 2013 12:24 PM To: 'For and about Montgomery Sailboats' Subject: Re: M_Boats: First M boat! Where are you located Tom? The dinghy is a possibility if I can find a place to hide from my wife. Ian Sent from my iPad

I'm in the SF Bay Area, in Penngrove in Sonoma County about 60 minutes North of San Francisco. Good luck on trying to hide it. On Mon, Oct 14, 2013 at 6:18 AM, Ian Black <seaweeble@hotmail.com> wrote:

This reminds me of a strategy proposed by David Beede of simplicityboats.com: Even one sheet boats look pretty big indoors. This one is a good candidate for the "Stealth Shelf Skiff" article I'm writing. The premise being a guy convinces his wife he's making one of those skiff shaped bookshelves so he can organize all those boat books he has strewn all over the house. However... in the dead of night - all those books and shelves get stacked on the floor and the skiff gets thrown in the back of the family wagon and off to a nearby lake. In the morning wife finds hubby sleeping in with an odd smile on his face and an unexplained puddle on the floor by the bookshelf..... -Tyler On Oct 14, 2013, at 6:18 AM, Ian Black wrote:

Hahahahahaaa. That is a good one! I made a bookshelf once, about the age of 10. Then got the bright idea that it would make a neat raft so dumped it into the pond across the street. It floated. Wood floats. Then I stepped into it. Glug,glug.glug. Any wife who would look the other way on a "skiff bookshelf" deserves to be taken on a very nice evening sail just as the full moon peeks up over the horizon. Managed to do that once or twice on Galveston Bay. It was well worth it every time! Fair winds, Tom B, M17 #258 On Mon, Oct 14, 2013 at 3:42 PM, Tyler Backman <casioqv@usermail.com> wrote:
