Ahoy skippers Anyone have suggestion to bring UNF antenna line from the mast into the cabin on my M15? I want to use my ham radio at sea Thanks Captain Jim Skipper vessel Pelican (M-15)
I brought my VHF antenna wire plus the wires for the mast head light and spreader lights thru the mast and directly into the cabin roof. I drilled a 5/8" hole; cored out the balsa, epoxied the hole; and then redrilled a 1/2" hole. I also drilled out a 1/2" hole in the mast plate. With this set up I ran all the wires down the inside of the mast, through the cabin roof and then down through the center of the compression post and exited them below the Vberth to be then routed to radio and battery. I also had to cut a 2" slot up the backside of the mast to allow the pivoting of the mast when I raised and lowered it. I slathered the hole with BoatLife Boat calk. All the disconnects were made at the deck level and shoved up into the mast. It hasn't leaked in over 2 years.
