Hey Rick, Nice web site! For what it's worth, you and Frank saw me trying to scull my M17 in the North Channel, for the record, I got nowhere.... But, that's OK, it was an experiment.... 5" of snow here this weekend. Later, Bones
Bones, I think you're sculling would have gone better but 'you weren't holding your mouth right' ;-) 5-6 inchs of snow down with 14-18 more coming. It's going to be a very white Christmas. Was looking at North Channel and Lake Champlain pics earlier tonight....It was a good summer.Best to all.
Hey, since we're comparing weather notes, it is currently blowing 45 kts with gusts over 50 with wave heights of 32' at 9 second intervals 16 miles off the Oregon coast. It's raining too. Coastal headlands are seeing sustained winds of 80+ mph with gusts up to 109!! The Oregon coast can be somewhat inhospitable to small boat sailors this time of year! These conditions have been consistent all day and will continue until tomorrow evening. It's warm, though, 50°. I'm glad my little boat is snugly under cover in my driveway awaiting spring. Wow! Glad I'm not out in that, but I bet we get some aftermath over here soon. --Gary Hyde 2005 M17 sailboat #637 'Hydeaway 2' We can't change the wind, but we can trim our sails. On Dec 2, 2007, at 9:03 PM, Roberta Dvorscak wrote:

Mark, Per the locals, we had 129 mph winds at Rockaway Beach. One of my hemlock trees now resides in my dad's house. Just got the electricity back in total yesterday (12/11). Our street was blocked by a downed hemlock, so I had to take my fence down and drive out through a neighbor's yard. I have never seen a storm of this intensity in Oregon, with the winds lasting as long as they did. My guess is that it was close to 36 hours of sustained high winds. I just got back to the Willamette Valley today.... too old for this stuff.
