Re: M_Boats: New 1981 Montgomery owner has some questions for the experts...
Hi Rusty, It isn't a big job. To get yourself up to speed, write to WEST Epoxy and ask for their How-To book. They give you an excellent description on how to use their products (which is what I have used for years; repairing and building new boats). They go into all sorts of repairs and new construction, and it's the "know-how" bible. After you have read that, the job is easy............ since there is no more mystery about what you are doing, how to do it, and why you do it. Small amounts of the WEST products are available at boat supply stores (West Marine / Defender / Boat USA to name the ones I'm familiar with). I normally buy their 1 quart size because it is so hand to have in the shop for odd jobs: boat and household...........! Connie
Connie, your encouragement is much appreciated. Dik Lang(M-17) lent me a copy of one of their books and it was wonderful. I will search one out and proceed educated and without trepidation! One question to you and the list...when removing the forward part of the teak toe rail to make room for the chocks, did you take off the entire rail and re-bed it or just remove the area you needed to remove. I would hate to remove the entire rail! If not, what did you use to cut the teak with and how did you avoid damaging the deck in the process? Thank you!!! -Rusty M-15, still unnamed... __________________________________ Do you Yahoo!? The New Yahoo! Shopping - with improved product search http://shopping.yahoo.com
