Hi Gang, An old buddy of mine in northern Mn has just purchased a sailboat that has been sitting in storage for years. We are trying to find out about the company that made it, and nothing seems to be available. The boat is a sloop, 17 feet long, and looks a bit like a Cape Dory Typhoon. Supposedly it was mfg by Bay Runner, and the serial number is: BYN80542M805. I will assume this is hull #42, built in May, 1980. Can anyone shed any light on this? I'd like to help him get it seaworthy again. Bones, According to the USCG website, the MIC of record for BYN is Bowen Yachts, L.C. 163 Beacon Lane, Tequestea, FL. I don't know if this helps, but it might lead you in a direction. Did the boat come with a title? If so, is that where "Bay Runner" comes from? How about a picture? Maybe that would help someone's memory? Good luck with this project. Bones, Sorry for the double post......... I just checked the USCG web site for another MIC which I think we are all familiar with......... According to the USCG website, the MIC of record for MMP is VANQUISH BOATS (DBA), PO BOX 1231; Newport, RI. Maybe BYN isn't Bowen Yachts after all? Who ever said you can trust the internet? Skip, this additional info may help for "BYN": "MIC PREVIOUSLY ASSIGNED TO BAYRUNNER BOATS INC PO BOX 185J WOODBINE NJ 08270 OOB 08/11/76. 06/30/03 OOB PER RNI" My usual go-to source, www.sailboatdata.com, does not identify any builder named "Bayrunner" nor any boat with such a name. Now, for "MMP": "100687-OLD ADDR:935 W 18TH COSTA MESA. 970224 PLACED OOB BASED ON LETTER FROM MR. MONTGOMERY. MONTGOMERY MARINE (RANCHO CORDOVA CA) IB-12/3/1972 OOB-2/24/1997." ---- John Tyner M-15 #412 "Chimpanzee" On 4/30/2013 4:00 PM, wcampion@aol.com wrote:

Bones: you should send Josh Colvin at SMALL CRAFT ADVISOR a description and picture(s) of the boat. would be a great addition to the 'mystery boat' section of the magazine. :: Dave Scobie --- On Tue, 4/30/13, bownez@juno.com <bownez@juno.com> wrote:
