East Coast Monty Sailors-- I have two 3-4 day cruises planned for September and October this year in coastal North Carolina. The Palace to Lighthouse Cruise is a 4 day trip of approx. 85 NM from the Colonial Governor's Palace near the Neuse River to the Lighthouse at Cape Lookout National Seashore. This trip involves large river sailing, an ICW passage, and threading a passage through low islands and tidal sandbars to an anchorage inside the Cape Lookout Bight. It is a one-way trip if a car shuttle can be arranged. Not many sailors take the safe, but interesting, Barden Inlet route to Cape Lookout so be one of the few & join us in the last half of September. The second trip is a cruise of towns & rivers on the Albemarle Sound. A 75 NM loop, on the Sound & the Perquimans, Yeopim, & Scuppernong Rivers, allows sheltered anchorages &/or complimentary dockage (+ free showers) at Edenton & Columbia NC, while Hertford & Mackays offers food, fuel, & liquid supplies. The Albemarle must be one of the least sailed major water bodies in North Carolina but one of the most scenic & historic . MAPTECH Chart 89 covers Albemarle Sound; Charts 90 & 91 cover the route from New Bern to Beaufort & Cape Lookout. On-line NOAA Charts 12205 (Albemarle) & 11545 plus 11552 (Neuse R , Beaufort, Cape Lookout are available) Send me a note or call for more information. Mike Murphy, M-15 Fionnula 703-859-1637
