Sandy, I can understand the problem in Arizona. Here in New England, winters can be cold and long. The first days of this week it was 23 degrees F, and at the moment, the snow is coming down and it is anticipated that we'll have about 10 inches before it stops late tonight. It looks lovely - very much like Christmas - provided you don't have to shovel your driveway. So, with freezing weather in New England, bird bath heaters become a normal winter necessity.
