Norm, If you have the same rudder as my M15, you pick it up by lifting the tiller. There's a rod that pushes the top of the rudder down hence lifting it on its pivot. I currently have my rudder all apart and there is no hole where you describe it. Doesn't seem like it would have the required mechanical advantage needed to lift the rudder with the hole so high. My recently purchased M15 has a 1/8" hole just below the bottom aluminum plate holding the rudder. The hole is on the backside of rudder above the water line. It looks like something should be connected.

Is this a place to hook up a line to lift the rudder blade out of the water in shallow water or beaching? If yes, can someone explain how to hook it up? Can the rudder blade be put back into the water the same way with a second line?
