Hi fellow M boaters Thanks to Jerry's generosity I have a blueprint of the original line dwgs. for the M17 designed by Lyle Hess. Jerry if you'd like I'll mail it back to you, let me know. I've finished reproducing them, and will send a copy to the MSOG Site, but first can someone tell me what format to put it in so it can be opened without a cad program. I also will be happy to mail paper copies to anyone intrested, but first need to check the cost of printing and mailing, surely not more than a couple bucks. I'll check on the cost of mailing folded copies (really cheap) and in case anyone is intrested in a un-folded copy,I'll also check on costs in mailing them rolled in tubes (slightly more expensive I would guess). This dwg. does not include the sail plan, shoal keel & centerboard, or rudder, as the dwgs. Jerry had available did not include these items. I'll measure my boat and add these to a later version, I wanted this first copy to be exactly as Lyle Hess drew it. Its intresting working from his blueprints, I hope others will enjoy this as much as I have. You can reach me at this site, or saltydog@ev1.net Fair winds Wayne
Really excellent, Wayne!!!!!!!!!! Thanks so much for your work on this! I am interested in a rolled copy of the hull itself. Send the total for mailing a tube (and your snail-mail address), plus any amount you want to ask for time and materials, to chonshell@ia4u.net and I'll have a check on its way to you as soon as possible. I'm really excited about this. You can also put me down for a copy of the later version with the keel, sailplan, etc. Thanks again! --Craig, chonshell@ia4u.net ----- Original Message ----- From: wayne yeargain To: montgomery_boats@mailman.xmission.com Sent: Thursday, June 05, 2003 7:55 PM Subject: M17 Line drawings Hi fellow M boaters Thanks to Jerry's generosity I have a blueprint of the original line dwgs. for the M17 designed by Lyle Hess. I look forward to putting the drawings up on the MSOG, but someone with more recent knowledge of CAD systems than I will have to advise how to do it. I imagine the best thing would be to somehow convert them to JPEG files and send them over as a set of standard, though probably large, images. Sizes and resolutions will differ depending on whether it is to be viewed on the screen, or printed out. What are the dimensions of the sheets you received? It may be easier for me to get the paper copies and fiddle with them here. I'll pay your costs from MSOG contributions. Rolled would be best for this purpose. An additional choice might be to also send it in some common CAD format like DXF for those who have the wherewithal to use it as a CAD file. I, unfortunately, am really tied up for almost all of June. I have only one window, between June 12 and 15, or after June 27th. Thanks, Doug At 06:55 PM 6/5/03 -0500, you wrote:

I think Voloview from Autodesk, a program that allows viewing and printing of .dwg (AutoCAD drawing file format) is available for free, isn't it? I'm not sure. Check www.autodesk.com <http://www.autodesk.com/> for more info. I have AutoCAD LT and if possible would like to get it in .dwg format. Thanks a bunch! Tod (posting from aboard BuscaBrisas on the starting day of the CBC with attendance of 3 17's and 4 15's. Rain all day today, tomorrow supposed to be nice)
Whoops..Volo View is NOT free. I think when it was first introduced it was. Now there is this for free: http://usa.autodesk.com/adsk/servlet/index?id=2787358 <http://usa.autodesk.com/adsk/servlet/index?id=2787358&siteID=123112> &siteID=123112 Express Viewer for .dwf files, rather than .dwg files Tod
If it is any help...I can scan anything up to 36" by as long as you can get paper and output to a .tif or more conventional file format. Or if you want to send me the .dwg I can convert it to another format and e-mail it back to you for distribution. If we did a multi-page .tif most folks could bring it up and print their own copies with the standard windows Imaging that is part of 95, 98 etc. but not part of the latest XP release. Let me know. Wayne, I think I have a copy of Lyle's original sail plan. Will try to find it and let you know. Tom
Six of the seven boats are currently rafted up this evening.aving a great time. More later. In a tiny tiny cove that Stan and Carol discovered; wouldn't have thought of coming back in here myself, it looks like it would be too shallow. Tod
