RE: M_Boats: Re: rudder on M15-Ques for Bob
Hey Bob, have you guys tried the M15 style kickup approach on the M17. I seem to remember Jerry tried it but for some reason didn't pursue it. An observation Larry Yake had, and that I agree with now that I have both boats for comparison, is the M15 setup is less positive feeling than the "direct connect" M17 arrangement. The rudder will come up with a simple movement of the tiller from the cockpit. Maybe you don't know how this works? Move the tiller up and down with a quick movement, the rudder will automatically fold UP and the blade will be horizontal. To lower the blade simply raise the tiller again and it will fall down to the vertical position. Fair winds Bob (949) 489-8227 nbundek wrote:
My recently purchased M15 has a 1/8" hole just below the bottom aluminum plate holding the rudder. The hole is on the backside of rudder above the water line. It looks like something should be connected.
Is this a place to hook up a line to lift the rudder blade out of the water in shallow water or beaching? If yes, can someone explain how to hook it up? Can the rudder blade be put back into the water the same way with a second line?
Thanks,
