Hi Craig, What you want is the sailing submarine that can unfold it's wings and fly, and on alternate Friday's be used as a 40 foot semi trailer. The answer to your epoxy question - as far as my experience reaches is that you are asking for the impossible. If your epoxy is mixed in a 1:1 ratio, then the consistency is purely a function of ambient temperature. Hotter =s thinner: colder =s thicker. For an excellent text book on epoxy use, contact WEST Systems Brand. The book is free, and is listed in my WEST MARINE Catalog - page 184, "Model 310284" "WESTSYS # 1999" This gives you an explanation of their products; and the technical portion covers basic techniques for repairs and building projects. WEST also has repair packs with small quantities of their resins and hardners; fillers - high and low density; mixing cups; gloves; and everything you need for a small job. See a WEST MARINE Catalog for better and more detailed descriptions. Connie
Hello Craig, System Three has a nice trial kit including resins, fillers, glass cloth, gloves and a good book for only $15.00. I have also used West epoxy- they seem to be about the same except Wesy is 5:1 and System Three is 2:1. See www.systemthree.com or call1.800.333.5514. Or look for the ad in Wooden Boat. Ron Goodspeed
Thanks, everyone, for the epoxy info. I liked your metaphor, Connie. --Craig ----- Original Message ----- From: "ron and cathryn goodspeed" <rcgoodspeed@mac.com> To: "For and about Montgomery Sailboats" <montgomery_boats@mailman.xmission.com> Sent: Friday, April 11, 2003 3:49 PM Subject: Epoxy Hello Craig, System Three has a nice trial kit including resins, fillers, glass cloth, gloves and a good book for only $15.00.
