Is it true that in order to change the centerboard pennant on the M15, I will have to remove the centerboard pin in order to get to the pennant?? thanks, Rich Cottrell 1984 M15 "Really"
Rich, I don't think you will need to remove the centerboard pivot pin in order to change the centerboard pennant on your M15. I've changed the fiberglass centerboard and pennant on our 1988 M17. (The fiberglass cb on the newer M17's is the same cb as the M15). You just need to remove the knot on the cockpit end of the cb pennant, allowing the cb to swing all the way down. Then you will need to raise your boat, or dig a hole, to allow the cb to drop low enough to get to the knot on the top of the cb where the pennant attaches. We had to raise our 17 and slide it back on the trailer so the cb wouldn't hit one of the trailer cross members. You need to de-core several inches of the pennant so when you tie a knot attaching the pennant to the top of the cb, the knot won't bind in the cb housing.
