Hi folks: Still looking for a boat yard to replace my centerboard line on my M15. I don’t have anyway of hoisting boat. I can travel from Boise to Seattle, Portland or Sacramento. Any ideas. Been looking for about four months. Any suggestions helpful. No way of doing it myself. Peter. Maybe find a yacht club with a launch crane. It’s a quick job and the bote only weighs 750#. Bob Sent from my iPad

If you rig up a lifting harness like Tyler's, or slings under boat, etc. - as someone said, you just need to find a friendly equipment operator with a backhoe, excavator, forklift, mobile crane, etc. that can lift the boat weight safely off your trailer and high enough off ground to drop your board. cheers, John On 11/19/22 11:23, Peter Zimowsky via montgomery_boats wrote:

PS - to be more specific - look for portable crane operators (crane trucks) for hire in your vicinity. They will likely have slings & other rigging needed, so you wouldn't have to do that yourself. If you are just going to replace the CB pennant, an hour of their time might do, a couple hours at most. Or they can lift it so you can put it on blocks & stands for a while if doing other under-the-boat stuff. cheers, John On 11/19/22 14:04, John Schinnerer via montgomery_boats wrote:

Seems unnecessary to drive so far. There are probably 10,000 people close by who could do this. I suppose the trick is finding them. Lots of non-boat people lift logs, beams, etc....It's also called "Rigging" In Boise there is a place called "Boise Rigging Supply" (I just looked it up). I'd call them up and askthem if they know someone local. If you were close, I'd help you. Peter, I live in Boise and have a M15 on Payette Lake. If you need help in Boise I am available and would like to learn how it’s done. I’ve always been curious about how to change the center board pendent. You’re welcome to use my bridle and the crane here at Richmond Yacht Club, but I wouldn’t drive from Idaho just for that! I was able to do mine on the trailer by unbolting the axle. You could also do it underwater… Sincerely, Tyler -----Original Message----- From: Peter <montgomery_boats@mailman.xmission.com> To: For <montgomery_boats@mailman.xmission.com> Cc: Peter <rapidz@mac.com> Date: Saturday, 19 November 2022 11:24 AM PST Subject: M_Boats: Replacing centerboard line Hi folks: Still looking for a boat yard to replace my centerboard line on my M15. Yes, you can access the pennant connection without having to pull out the centerboard pin, but I suspect it could damage things if the board were not supported on the aft end while replacing the pennant. In my case, I did actually remove the board, because my original board rusted/expanded and I had to replace the whole thing with a new one from Bob.
