Gilbert, Try the wire brush or sandblast and have it powdercoated for long term coating. Not the cheapest, but if you are near a large city it can usually be done for a fair price - benefit is only minor touch up needed at spring perches and points of suspension movement. Coater usually blasts as a part of the process - so dismantle and write the check - stimulate that economy!!! LOL (I know - not funny anymore!)
