A good way to repair the old cockpit drain is to use 1-1/2" fiberglass exhaust tubing which is available at marine stores. What is left of the aluminum can be pulled out with plyers or by hand without damaging the fiberglass that was holding it. Clean up and scuff up the remaining fiberglass fillets and epoxy the tube in place. Should then be good for the life of the boat.
