Hi Wannabe; My 1983 M-15, which I purchased in 2007, had a bare worn spot on the starboard teak rail ahead of the rear bow rail mount. It was perhaps 1/16" to 1/8" at the deepest in the center, and was scuffed about 1 1/4" wide. I can't tell for certain if it was from anchoring or from dock lines, though I suspect the latter. She does ride at anchor with the line on or near that spot however. I considered adding bow chocks, and even purchased a small skene pair. Being somewhat unwilling to carve up the rail to fit them in, I didn't use them (yet?). Maybe there are smaller ones that will handle the 3/8" line I use, but the ones I bought would have looked really stupid sitting on top of, and hanging over, the rail. They would have needed to be inset to have a chance of looking right. Instead I did a bit of epoxy filling. That turned out to my satisfaction, and is nearly invisible under a couple coats of Cetol Lite. When I get up my nerve to drill for that bow eye I bought, (I resist and fear the poking of holes at every opportunity) that hopefully will become my preferred anchoring point of attachment. New boats come with bow eyes, I believe, standard. Based on my experience, I'd say to ask Bob about adding chocks if buying new, or to wait to see if your usage requires them if buying used. I hope you find your boat! Ron, in Michigan M-15 #249, Bonaventure In a message dated 12/2/2008 11:58:22 A.M. I presume you anchor from the cleat on the foredeck, and does the anchor line cause problems with wear on the rails or pulpit? Have only seen the boat in pictures, so maybe I am missing something. _______________________________________________ http://mailman.xmission.com/cgi-bin/mailman/listinfo/montgomery_boats **************Life should be easier.
