Try contacting Dwyer mast company. Can you do the work yourself? If so, I would think you could get the extrusion. As another option , there is an entire m-23 for sale in Phoenix for $8k. 20k is ridiculous in my opinion. And even 14k seems outrageous. https://www.dwyermast.com/

I already knew about Dwyer mast and scoped out a cost of around $1200 for the new extrusion, but whoever I work with will probably have their own opinions on who to buy the extrusion from. It seems weird to me you are getting quotes of $20k when a new mast extrusion is only $1200. I don't exactly know the rigging on an M24, but similar sized and rigged boats I've owned one could swap the mast hardware to a new extrusion in an afternoon with a few hand tools. It hardly seems like $18-19k worth of labor. On a real budget you could probably find a derelict condition used boat for near free with the same mast extrusion in the same length or longer, and adapt it over. In my experience most shops of any kind will overcharge an insurance company. You might get a better deal taking a cash payout, buying the extrusion yourself, and just hiring a local person that comes well recommended to swap the hardware over. Dented in one place? I'd say a "good" welder could just tig weld in a new section.(trick is knowing if they are good or not...I might get a demonstration first, weld thin aluminum to thickmaybe...) ....and since you are thinking of throwing it away anyway, seems that it might be worth a try. I'm sure shipping a small section is a lot cheaper than the whole mast. Even if you decide to get a new extrusion, might as well include shipping an extra section to fix the oldmast. Somebody might appreciate it someday. How did it happen? It might save someone another accident someday. HI GerryI know that you have lots of good advice but as a former M-23 owner that did an enormous amount of work to my M-23 do not despair. The M-23 is seriously well built and there is nothing that you cannot repair. If you had not done a serious upgrade to the fittings on the mast you may have been granted a silver lining on the mast as the fittings that carry load need to be evaluated and replaced every decade or two so it may be that this mistake will help avoid a demasting later.Thanks for keeping a beautiful M-23 going! Well, it was a long time in coming but it was definitely worth the wait. Ten years ago I stumbled across a rare M-5’8”. It was severely abused and needed lots of love. I had visions of restoring this little gem and came to the conclusion this project was going to be challenging. If I were to be successful with this restoration, I would need to use my ultimate multi-purpose tool. It can fix anything with ease. So I broke out my checkbook and took the little pram to a professional. This past weekend I picked up my renewed boat! The only problem I discovered..….the Chesapeake Bay and it's tributaries are so dirty, I’m not sure I want to place my new boat in such murky water! It would be an absolute shame to get this little gem dirty. 🤣
I’ve attached a few before and after pictures. My goal was to restored the pram to match my M-15. I plan to tow the pram behind me when I’m out for long weekends. I’m sure there’ll be a learning curve figuring out how best to tow the pram and transitioning between the two. But this will have to wait until spring. The M-23 is seriously well built and there is nothing that you cannot repair. If you had not done a serious upgrade to the fittings on the mast you may have been granted a silver lining on the mast as the fittings that carry load need to be evaluated and replaced every decade or two so it may be that this mistake will help avoid a demasting later.Thanks for keeping a beautiful M-23 going!

Well, it is with disappointment that I need to email the group. I had an accident with my mast while getting the boat ready for the road. It was my fault (really dumb mistake), but the mast fell and now has a big dent. It will need replaced. It’s tough to stomach when you do something dumb and have it cause a problem like this. I feel like I let down the entire wrinkle boat community since there isn’t many of the 23’s around.
I need to find a rigging shop that can build a new one. I have insurance on the boat, but it will only cover $14,500. I’ve contacted 3 different rigging shops here in the Northwest. The first one wants 20K. I haven’t heard back from the other two.
Does anyone know of a good vendor or the best way to approach this? I need the price to be below $14,500.
