HI All, I have M17 #301. I'm trying to identify the spars used on the boat, and finding it less than trivial. Does anyone on this mailing list have any hints or guesses? I've been idly considering the standing rigging, thinking about where and how I would add something like spinnaker pole parts ( ring/track & topping lift ), and thought of my warped old boom, and started browsing and guessing, but curious what kind of parts I might be able to find that were made for the spars. I haven't found anything that specifically says what spars were used, and I haven't stumbled across any parts that looked particularly like what I have onboard.
Hello danf.us Check this link out for M17 specifications.. http://www.msogphotosite.com/Scripts/Information/downloaddocument.php?id=199 Cheers Keith *Keith R. Martin, P.Eng.* *Burnaby, B.C. CanadaSerenity, M17 #353* On 30 January 2017 at 17:42, <msog@danf.us> wrote:

The details on John's list on the msogphotosite that Keith linked are close enough to the spar that is on your 17 danf. The spars at Jerry used are no longer made. One of many boat component manufacturers that are no longer around. If you need assistance on the specific parts let me know. :: Dave Scobie :: M17 #375 SWEET PEA - https://m17-375.com/ On Jan 30, 2017 6:46 PM, "Keith R. Dyer has a complete line of small boat aluminum spars as well as quite a bit of standing rigging fittings. On Mon, Jan 30, 2017 at 7:42 PM, <msog@danf.us> wrote:

#301 would be one of mine, and would be a Sparcraft 104 section. Early in my career I bought interest in the extrusion die, after Sparcraft had gone out of business, and bought the masts directly from the extruder, 1,000 pounds at a time. Later, when Vagabond came out with a 17, Ron Holder and I made purchases together, buying 3,000 lbs, which got a better price. That's when I changed the length of the 17 mast from 21' 2 1/2" to 21'4"; Ron's boat had a fractional rig, which needs a longer mast, so we compromised.
