Needless to say if it can be done wrong, I've done it wrong. Even with the picture in the manual, which I carefully read before transporting the motor the first time, I did lay the motor on the wrong side. This was last year and so I haven't done it again. What happens is that gas will leak out, and so will all the oil and it gets all over the surface of whatever the motor is lying on. The good thing was that I had it lying on a disposable wrapper, thus saving the truck bed. That wasn't the issue on this trip, just overfilling the oil reservoir and being unable to see the level in the little window. Now, I bought one of those stands so that it sits on the stand in the garage when not in use on the boat. Makes transporting to and from the truck much easier. Time for a cool change!
