I seem to recall seeing a very early M17 with the hull mounted nav lights. Or, perhaps these were installed by the particular owner. I noticed the Sailnet disclaimer "does not meet international standards". A fellow M17 sailor here in Minnesota got stopped by the water police on busy Lake Minnetonka one evening after sundown because they could not see his bow nav lights.
