As I said in my introductory message, my wife and I are taking up sailing late in life. We need some help with the running rigging. From the pictures on the web site, it looks like the topping lift is shackled to the end of the boom, goes up to where? And then to where? Are the jib sheets run inside or outside the shrouds? What is the line on the front of the mast that is cleted to the mast, then runs upward to the hounds, and then back down and has a shackle on it? I am not talking about the jib halyard. Any help you can give us would be appreciated. Phil
Missed something...are you talking about an M15 or M17? On the M15, working jib sheets go inside--Genoa sheets go outside. On the M17, all lead outside. Topping lifts are all over the map. The adjustable topping lift on my M17 leads to a cheek block near the end of the boom, but I also use a static connection that leads from the bridle to the end of the boom from which the boom simple hangs. The difference is the topping lift will swing with the boom, whereas the static connector if fixed. Take your pick. The halyard you refer to sound like a spinnaker halyard. Good luck. t On Tue, Jun 10, 2008 at 7:13 PM, Phil & Frances <srelt@iclub.org> wrote:
