I agree. I can't see in my minds eye how to reef without securing the toping lift first. If not, how do you keep the boom up when you drop the sail?? I know.......I dropped the boom into the cockpit the first time I tried to reef. quite the experience since like most rookies I had waited a bit to long. I tied a short piece of the same line I use for the topping lift on the end of the first reefing line to remind me to secure the topping lift. If you do get a Boomkicker get the optional track mount. The slug fitting just pops out of the groove. They seem to be pretty well constructed otherwise.
