Hello List, I'm shopping for a pair of binoculars. I'd like a marine set with an eye relief of at least 22mm because I wear glasses and in the 7 x 50 size. Any proven winners out there? What is everyone fond of? Anyone use a compass enclosed model? Thanks for the shared knowledge. Bones
I have a pair of Fuji Polaris binoculars with the built-in compass that I like a lot. They are big, heavy, and old but they have great eye relief and gather light almost like night vision. ----- Original Message ----- From: <bownez@juno.com> To: <montgomery_boats@mailman.xmission.com> Sent: Saturday, January 20, 2007 4:30 PM Subject: M_Boats: Binoculars Hello List, I'm shopping for a pair of binoculars. Bones, Diana and I do a lot of birding, and also use our birdoculars on the boats. Both are Swaraovskis. I use 7x42 and Diana 10x50. Good for eyeglasses, or without. Impresive optics.... Hello Bones, My favorite pair of binoculars is my Fujinon Mariner model (7X50 with compass). The optics are splendid, the compass is a very handy feature, for coastal navigation and they were nowhere near the cost of Steiners. They don't fog up internally and they also have 22mm eye relief. The only drawback is the individual focus is not as fast or familiar as center focus, but there may be other Fujinon models which have that feature. Look through as many binoculars as you can (I certainly did). I believe the optics in the Fujinons are first rate.
