I liked the cover in Dave Scobie's photos but have to admit I am very happy with my $35 tarp and would probably take it over the cover in the photos. It fits pretty well, stays on in high winds, and covers most of the hull. Almost as good as a garage, if you ask me. Hopefully I have successfully attached a photo of it. Sailors Taylor made the cover for the M17 from patterns and pictures I sent them, and it fits perfectly. I think several people have bought them. Bob Rowland is the guy to talk to. Very knowledgeable and helpful. Rick M17 #633 Lynne L On Friday, May 10, 2013, David Grah wrote:

I am doing the same thing. Fits well, cheap, covers the whole boat, really easy to take on and off. But my wife thinks it is ugly! That is the problem. Since the boat sits in the driveway next to the house, I get grief over that. Daniel On May 10, 2013, at 7:46 PM, David Grah <d_b_grah@yahoo.com> wrote:

I think getting grief over the boat under the tarp by the driveway is a common ailment among us M boat owners, probably all boat owners. Problem is most cures cost much $. Ain't that the truth! Really, I have been perfectly happy with my tarp solution. The thing takes all of 5 minutes to put on, covers the boat completely, and is held in place with 4 bungees. Totally simple. Stays on in high winds, keeps the rain out. But, it looks like a big grey igloo. We have a nice house, and my wife doesn't like the appearance of it. So, if I get a smaller cover for the deck while leaving the mast uncovered, it will look better. Figures. Daniel On May 11, 2013, at 8:25 AM, stevetrapp <stevetrapp@q.com> wrote:

Daniel, Having tried bigger tarps and smaller tarps on my M-15 for winter storage, I recommend the bigger tarp. Any part of your deck or cabin or mast tabernacle or teak wood trim that is left uncovered will eventually start showing weathering, so use a big enough tarp to cover the whole boat. About your wife's complaints, I wish I had some words of wisdom, but I don't. I have towed my M-15 to a storage lot where I pay for a space. I do that because I like having my boat inside a cyclone fence with a locked gate, but it might be worth the $ for domestic peace.
