Biennial. Semi-annual would put one in some nasty weather. ----- Original Message ----- From: "Shawn Boles" <shawn@ori.org> To: "'For and about Montgomery Sailboats'" <montgomery_boats@mailman.xmission.com> Sent: Thursday, July 16, 2009 8:50 AM Subject: Re: M_Boats: racing my M23

in december you get WIND in the 'inland waters' of WA. would need a 'warming vessel' to follow the fleet ... cold and wet! dave scobie M17 #375 - SWEET PEA visit SWEET PEA's www-site: http://www.m17-375.webs.com --- On Thu, 7/16/09, Tom Jenkins <tjenk@gte.net> wrote: From: Tom Jenkins <tjenk@gte.net> Date: Thursday, July 16, 2009, 1:43 PM Biennial. Hi all, I have been reader of this site for many years and it's one of the best for information for trailerable sailboats. We have been planning our first trip to the San Juans for this summer. I have started out using the NOAA site for their free online chart viewer, tides, and current charts. http://www.nauticalcharts.noaa.gov/mcd/OnLineViewer.html and http://tidesandcurrents.noaa.gov/currents11/tab2pc2.html#121. Then I found that Novonics sells a chart viewer and the North American charts for about $25 (takes forever to download). This has been a great help because not only can you look at the charts but by clicking on the symbols for the tides and currents it will pop up the information right there for that current or tide station. And then you can change the date to get to any day in the future. This is really good for the currents since it shows you which way its going and how fast. The application will also let you do route planning on the chart. A great tool for planning. Bi-annual is a confusing term too, because it actually has two meanings. bi⋅an⋅nu⋅al /baɪˈænyuəl/ Show Spelled Pronunciation [bahy-an-yoo-uhl] –adjective 1. occurring twice a year; semiannual. 2. occurring every two years; biennial. It's safer to just say every two years, or biennial. As far as the San Juan trip goes, the more often, the better. Too bad it's so much trouble to put together. Bill Day Gee Whiz!
